In 2022, Durham Chimney & Masonry Repair was subcontracted through another company to complete a stone restoration project in Campbellford, Ontario. The job involved a mix of repointing, stone relaying, and rebuilding damaged sections of stone masonry.
A large portion of the work included repointing the existing stone using lime mortar. This helped restore the joints while keeping the building breathable and in line with traditional masonry methods. Lime mortar was an important choice for this type of older stonework, helping preserve the structure while allowing natural movement over time.
Along with repointing, several stones were carefully relaid where movement and wear had caused issues. These areas needed to be taken apart and reset properly to bring back both strength and appearance. Small sections of missing or damaged stone were also rebuilt and filled in to restore the integrity of the walls.
The combination of repointing, stone replacement, and rebuilding small areas helped bring the structure back to a solid and stable condition while maintaining its original character.
This project is part of the work we proudly complete across Peterborough, Hastings, Campbellford, and Brighton, providing reliable masonry restoration and repair services throughout these areas.
